Thame Community Car offers a community transport service for residents of Thame and the surrounding area who have difficulty accessing regular transport. The service provides travel to medical, dental, and other appointments for people with mobility challenges or who require assistance.
The service is operated by volunteer drivers who collect passengers from their homes, take them to their destination, wait if necessary, and return them home afterwards. The vehicle is adapted for wheelchair access and includes additional passenger seats for companions or carers.
All volunteer drivers are DBS checked to ensure passenger safety. Payments for journeys can be made by cash or cheque, and the service operates on a donation basis to help cover running costs.
While Thame Community Car primarily supports medical transport needs, it may also be available for other types of appointments, depending on driver and vehicle availability. For hospital visits, drivers can accompany clients to the correct department if permitted by hospital policy.
Residents who need to book transport can call 07470 506056 or email [email protected] to make an enquiry or arrange a journey.
Thame Community Car is supported by local volunteers and aims to provide accessible, friendly, and reliable transport for people who might otherwise struggle to travel independently.
