Thame Police Crack Down on Crime and Safety Offences in Busy Week of Action

10th September 2025

The Thame Neighbourhood Policing Team has had a busy few days tackling a range of offences in and around the town, seizing vehicles, issuing fines, and recovering stolen goods as part of their commitment to keeping the community safe.

Among the most notable incidents:

  • Motorbike Seized: Officers stopped a rider who was travelling without insurance, MOT, or valid tax after declaring the vehicle SORN. The motorbike was seized and the rider reported.
  • Missing Child Found Safe: Police assisted in the search for a high-risk missing child. The child was located safely the following morning.
  • Car Seized for Repeat Offence: A driver with no licence and no insurance was caught for the second time in just two months. Their vehicle was seized and further action is being taken.
  • Drugs and Paraphernalia Recovered: Three males were searched, with cannabis, grinders, and a bong confiscated.
  • Zebra Crossing Offences: Several motorists received tickets for parking on zig-zag markings near pedestrian crossings, incurring fines and three penalty points. Police reminded drivers that these restrictions exist for public safety, not convenience.
  • Number Plate Violations: Incorrectly displayed registration plates resulted in a £100 fine. DVLA may also revoke the offenders’ personalised plates.
  • E-Scooter Seized: An electric scooter rider was stopped for having no licence or insurance. They were issued a warning, with police making clear that further offences will lead to prosecution.
  • Shoplifter Caught: A man attempting to steal steaks from Sainsbury’s was spotted by an off-duty officer. Despite trying to flee, he was chased down by the officer—described as “nearly twice his age.” The stolen items were recovered, and the suspect has since received a formal caution.

The Thame Neighbourhood Policing Team is urging residents to continue reporting suspicious behaviour.

“If you see something suspicious, let us know,” the team said.

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
