Freddie van Mierlo MP Joins Thame Environmental Forum for Open Q&A

17th July 2025

On Thursday 10 July, Freddie van Mierlo, Member of Parliament for Henley and Thame, attended a special edition of the Thame Environmental Forum at Thame Town Hall. The event, which drew a strong turnout of 55 local residents despite the summer heat, focused on an open Q&A with the MP, giving attendees the chance to raise environmental concerns and ask questions directly.

The Thame Environmental Forum, which usually meets bimonthly, brings together local organisations and individuals committed to taking action on environmental issues. This session offered a unique format centred around community dialogue with the MP.

The evening covered a wide range of topics, including local action on net zero, access to green spaces, water quality, and the role of government in supporting community-led sustainability efforts.

During the event, Freddie provided an update on the Thame to Haddenham Greenway, outlining the progress made over the past year and the work still to be done. He confirmed his continued support for the campaign, which aims to create a safe and accessible walking and cycling route linking the two communities.

He was also pleased to be presented with one of the campaign’s recognisable yellow Greenway t-shirts by local campaigners.

Feedback from organisers was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants welcoming the opportunity to engage directly with their MP. There are already plans to repeat the event next year, potentially as a panel discussion.

Freddie van Mierlo MP said:

"It was a pleasure to take part in such an engaged and thoughtful discussion. Events like these are an important part of how I stay informed about the issues that matter most to our communities, and I am grateful to everyone who came along to share their views."
