On Thursday night, Thame Town Council celebrated six individuals and one local business for their contribution to the community at the annual Thame Town Awards. Read more about this year's winners and check out the photos from the night.
Service with a Smile – Oliver Whitmore (Not Just Autoparts)
Oliver was recognised for his excellent customer service, and for always going above and beyond. With extensive knowledge about all the shops products.
Creative Arts Contribution – Michele Pethers
Michelle has basically run Music in the Park from the outset, also leading monthly Thursday Music Live night's at the Snooker Club. Providing opportunities for all to perform and a platform for emerging talent to showcase. She was also actively involved in Thame's First Pride event.
Company of the Year – The Book House
This business were a clear popular choice for the people of Thame. Being described as a cultural haven for all ages, with welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Their staff always go above and beyond to fulfil customers' requests.
Community Champion – Diane Mackriell
Diane has been a leader of Cuttle Brook Beavers and 1st Thame Scouts for many years. She also volunteers for the Royal British Legion, selling poppies outside the Town Hall in all weathers. She is the Secretary of Thame Bowls Clubs, as well as making and designing costumes for the Thame Players Theatre.
Community Champion – Ruth Taylor
Ruth was recognized for running the Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre. She also runs a toddler group, whilst also teaching part-time.
Sporting Contribution of the Year – Steve Gummer (& Alex Glass)
Steve was recognised for his constant smile and always embodying team spirit. He has been coaching basketball youth teams in Thame for many years. Always giving up a lot of time and energy.
Thame Mayor, Cllr Andy Gilbert also presented the Special Mayor’s Award to Sharon Smits.
Sharon is someone that helps on so many different things. From being the Carnival organiser, the Director of 21st Century Thame, Club correspondent for the Thame Inner Wheel, to list a few. She is a HR Consultant for SYLO Beyond HR and hosts Thame Business Buzz which they sponsor.
