Oxford Bus Company Update

28th June 2024

Please see the below update from the Oxford Bus Company:

We will be making changes to service 400 and introducing service 280 from 1st July 2024.

These changes support the planned closure of Brookes University's Wheatley Campus for teaching and learning from the end of this academic year. We are introducing revised timetables to ensure that we maintain good connectivity to Wheatley, and also provide new links to Tiddington and Thame.

Services 280 and 400 will combine to provide buses up to every 15 minutes between Oxford City Centre and Wheatley on weekdays, and up to every 30 minutes on weekends.

New service 280 will operate Monday to Saturday from Oxford City Centre via Headington, Wheatley and Tiddington to Thame up to every 30 minutes.

We will be enhancing service 400 to operate up to every 10 minutes between Oxford Rail Station and Thornhill Park&Ride throughout the year on weekdays, as well as on Saturdays. The frequency on Sundays and Public Holidays will also improve to operate up to every 15 minutes, providing more capacity at these key Park&Ride travel times. Service 400 will extend to Wheatley on weekdays and Sundays up to every 30 minutes, operating a loop via the Old London Road and London Road before returning to Oxford. On Sundays, when service 280 does not operate, these journeys will extend to Thame.

In the evenings after 7pm, service 280 will stop inside Thornhill Park&Ride to complement service 400 and double the number of evening buses departing the City Centre for Thornhill - perfect for making the most of your day out in Oxford.

Night buses N280 and N400 will operate up to every 30 minutes after midnight on Friday and Saturday nights between Oxford Rail Station and Thornhill Park&Ride. Service N280 will continue to Wheatley and Thame up to every hour.

Whilst Botley Road remains closed to through traffic, service 400 will continue to be split in the city centre. On the west side of the bridge, services 400 and NU1 will remain operating their current vacation timetable.
