FC Thame continued their fine start to their South Midlands Division 2 league campaign with a comprehensive 6-0 away win.
With manager Kevin Poole taking an early season break to the Caribbean, ex-Thame United legends and FC Thame assistant managers Richard Carr and Nando Perna took the helm for the trip to Loughton Manor.
Despite their impressive start, Thame have sometimes been guilty of profligacy in front of goal, but any such concerns were put to bed early in this one. After 10 minutes, a lovely passing move saw Paul Brown cut the ball back for Kieron Schmidt to side foot into the bottom corner. 1-0 became 2 soon after as Schmidt turned provider with a delightful ball over the top for Brown to run onto and slot home.
Thame continued to dominate the half with their high tempo pressing game pinning the home side back for large periods. Dan Delderfield rounded off a fine half for Thame smashing the ball home from 35 yards with his left foot to make it 3-0 at the break. The second half saw Thame continue to pass, press and harry Loughton completely out of the game.
Shayne Almond came to the fore with two quick goals, the first a trade mark free kick before slotting home after a defensive error. Ryan Binnee (pictured above) completed a superb all round team performance dancing his way into the box before curling the ball past the onrushing keeper for Thame’s sixth and final goal.
Next up for Thame is another away outing, this time to Enfield Borough where Thame will hope to secure another 3 points in the league.
