Last call for planting volunteers for this Saturday 9 March!
We are nearly ready for planting up the first of two new hedges at Thame Showground.
Please drop us a message if you can come – we will start at 10 and continue until we finish (2-4 hours depending on numbers), but if you can come to start any time up until 1200 that would still be welcome. No experience needed. (Please be aware that there is presently an electric fence around the sheep field a few metres from the intended hedge site - this will not be a problem for our planting, but if you would like to come with a child they would need to be fully supervised throughout, and you would need to be confident they would follow instructions to stay away from the fence.)
What to bring:
Thick gardening gloves
Waterproof clothing and wellies or hiking boots
A spade if you have one (we have a couple of spares if you don't own one)
Drink and snacks or lunch
Where to meet:
Please see the cross on the map attached. The yellow area is where we are planting. This is 5-10 minutes' walk from the rugby club.
Getting there:
Please come on foot if you can. There is a small amount of parking on the tracks in the area marked in blue. Please avoid driving further up the one-track path and avoid parking in the Rugby Club itself. This parking area can be very busy at this time with sports practice and dog walkers so you might need to use a nearby residential street.
Please introduce yourself to Ruth or Pete when you arrive and we will run through what to do if you haven't planted before.
