Music In The Park 2024 @ Elms Park

Music in the Park is a one-day family music and dance festival held in the lovely Elms Park in Thame Oxfordshire. To entertain we have two main stages, one for bands and musicians and the other for community choirs, dance troupes, schools, etc. We also have a dedicated acoustic stage housed in a marquee and a busk stop where anyone can turn up and do a spot. Along with all this, there are numerous children’s activities, a wide range of food stalls and trade stands and of course real ale, lager and the very popular Pimms and Cocktail bars. The fabulous Flotsam the Fool circus skills team are back. So come and learn how to juggle or walk on stilts.

Our Purpose

Taste of Thame is an event that will take place in Thame Town Centre,  promoting the independent and diverse food and drink offering available within Thame and the local area.

The next event will take place on Saturday 24 May 2024

The event will feature a trail map that encourages participants to move between venues in Thame Town Centre, experiencing new tastes, attending behind the scenes workshops and watching live demonstrations.

Alongside this there will be a street food market, the ‘Buttermarket Banquet’, competitions, a raffle raising funds for Thame Food Bank and the opportunity to sample menus that feature local produce for one day only – brought to you by many of our high-street food and drink businesses.

Our Values

The event will always seek to uphold the following values in it’s delivery

  • Community focused: always ensuring that it focuses on providing something that is primarily for the residents of Thame and the surrounding areas
  • Local: celebrating the businesses and organisations that are part of our local community giving them the opportunity to share their passion for food and drink with a new audience. Taste of Thame will only showcase food and drink businesses based in Thame, or producers who are based within 5 miles of Thame. An exception to this will only be made if specific items are not already produced within that radius.
  • Suitable for families: seeking to provide an experience that the whole family can enjoy
  • Free to attend: the main event will always be free to attend, although some of the activities or opportunities within the event may incur a charge
  • Working in Partnership: seeking to bring businesses and community organisations together
  • Non-profit: any income generated by the event will be re-invested the next year

Aims

  • Providing new experiences of food and drink
  • Raising awareness of food and drink businesses and producers in Thame and its surrounds
  • Supporting independent businesses

Sydenham Fayre returns for 2024! @ village green

Saturday 1st June 2024 – 12.30pm to 4pm

A fun family day out including live entertainment, children’s games, dog show, vintage cars, BBQ, tearoom and stalls.

Sydenham village in South Oxfordshire will once again be welcoming visitors to its much-anticipated Sydenham Fayre. The Fayre will take place on Saturday 1st June between 12.30 and 4pm.

The long-established event, co-ordinated and run entirely by villagers, raises funds for local groups and causes, supporting schools, community organisations and facilities in the surrounding area. Last year it raised over £9,000 for local causes.

The Fayre centres around the picturesque village green and this year’s programme is packed with exciting shows and activities:

  • Live entertainment will be taking place all day, including performances from popular local band – ‘Syd’ -, the Towersey Morris Team, Penny Farthing Hula Hooping Experience and Stokenchurch Judo Club will also be there performing a demonstration for spectators.

  • Children’s activities, including the Fayre’s own ‘Kids’ Corner’ featuring hourly shows from the magical Mr Marvel and a variety of games for all ages. There will be face painting and kids will also be able to enjoy the inflatable assault course.

  • Food and drink galore, including the delicious BBQ hosted by Sydenham’s cricket team, ice cream, as well as the ‘Gin and Pimm’s Palace’. The much-loved Tea Room, next to the church, will be serving sumptuous cakes and pastries, along with a selection of hot drinks throughout the day.

  • ‘Sydenham Car Show’, with new gems to its collection of vintage and envy-inducing automobiles.

  • The much-anticipated Sydenham Dog Show with a variety of classes to suit most canine competitors. Be sure to bring along your pampered pooches to compete for the coveted titles of ‘Best Veteran’ and ‘Sydenham Supreme’. Dog Show classes commence from 1pm – registration starts at 12.30pm.

The roads will be lined with stalls selling quality gifts and goodies from local producers, plus there’ll be the ever-popular Bottle Tombola, Coconut Shy, Plate Smash, Plant Sale, Bric-A-Brac, Jewelry and Vintage Clothing and Tarot reader.

As ever, the event will be rounded off by the hotly contested Tug-Of-War competition with men’s and women’s teams from The Crown pub and The Inn at Emmington battling it out for the historic trophy at 3.30pm. The raffle will also be drawn, with a first prize of £100 for the winning ticket.

Whilst the road through the village will be closed for the day, extensive free parking is available on the edge of the village. Disabled parking will be available.

As a community event, the success of the day relies so much on the enthusiasm of visitors from the neighbouring town and villages…so bring the family and help make Sydenham Fayre a highlight in the village’s calendar…we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone along for a fabulous day!
