Unwanted items in a good condition could be donated to charity.
There are a number of charities that collect reusable furniture, electrical appliances and other household items around Oxfordshire. These include:
Large retailers of electrical items accept small electrical items in-store to recycle on an exchange basis regardless of brand or condition. If you are planning on replacing a small electrical item please consider checking with the retailer to see if they are participating in this scheme, otherwise leave out with your black bin on collection day.
Alternatively, South Oxfordshire District Council can collect:
- Furniture (please dismantle before collection)
- Televisions
- Washing machines
- Mattresses
- Fridges and freezers (please clean and empty before collection)
They can only collect items less than 6ft long; larger items need to be taken to the local recycling centre.
It costs a minimum of £45.00 for a collection service. For this they will take up to three items. You can book additional items (up to six) at a cost of £8.50 per extra item.Book a bulky waste collection online
