Thomley took a team of 24 participants to Oxford city centre, to raise funds for the Charity that does so much for people in our local community. The team included visitors of Thomley, staff, friends, staff from Thame Cars and Ignite Sport UK.
Thomley’s Operations Manager Joe had this to say about what the event meant to Thomley:
“Working for a Charity certainly isn’t easy. But days like today, where you see those from all walks of life give their time and efforts towards something that may not even mean much to them personally, makes charity life that much easier. A selfless 2 hours and a few begging messages to friends and family, really goes a long way.
With 24 people completing yesterday's Oxford Half for Thomley, we’ve raised over £7k (and counting). £7,000 is enough money to run the whole October half term programme - providing vital opportunities for disabled people to socialise, play and be themselves in a secure and safe setting. That alone, makes all the running worthwhile, for those families who have nowhere else to take their child, free of judgement.
Community involvement is a huge part of our Charity, not just for financial support. Awareness from events such as these educates society about disabled people, about Thomley, and how Thomley makes a difference for those people.
Thanks to you all for days like today… it means a lot. If anyone would like to support us with future events, then please do get in touch with us. There is an upcoming Charity ball this November with tickets still available.”
The total has now passed £8,000 which is an incredible achievement. To support Thomley, visit their website or contact Joe: [email protected]
