Several Town Council staff spent Wednesday morning planting out the beds in the memorial gardens in the Upper High Street. A total of 2080 plants were planted (almost all just before the rain started!); 48 cannas, 600 red begonias, 600 white begonias and 832 ageratum. Several members of the public stopped for a chat, many offering their thanks to the maintenance team for their hard work to ensure the memorial gardens look so good all year round, others came to sit and enjoy their lunch, or to meet with a friend and lots of children visited to say hello to the fish! The maintenance team have another 1466 plants to plant in various locations around the town in the next couple of days, so if you see them down on their hands and knees, please do take a minute to stop and say hello.
