'Everything I could possibly need'

After we published a review on The Coffee House in Thame we invited more people to come forward with a good or bad experience of one of our local businesses. This review came through the following day:

'I have been a member at Racquets in Thame for coming up to 3 years now, and to say I have been consistently satisfied is an understatement. Unlike most leisure centres these days who grab as much money out of you as possible with their annual membership reviews, they have barely increased their prices (£4 a month to be exact over the course of 36 months). Yet maintained everything you expect out of your local gym.

The facilities do what they say on the tin and there is everything there I could possibly need (for a guy who works out 5 times a week.) Two separate rooms, one for cardio training, one for the resistance training. Alongside your multiple squash courts, dance studio and bar. Yes the gym rooms are a tad small, and can get slightly crowded after working hours, but who cares, there's a strong family vibe about the place, and all members are friendly (unlike in some bigger gyms who will try and stare you down if you have been in the squat rack for more than 30 seconds). So there is no love lost if you have to ask to jump in on a piece of equipment with someone. Yes the machines might not be as modern as they could be, but it does the job, and that's all you need, right? Plus the free weights section goes higher in KG than the TLC...Just saying!

The changing rooms are most importantly always clean. Plus you can leave you iPhone 6+ unattended on the side for 2 hours and it will still be there when you got back! As for the cleaning lady, loves to barge in on you mid shower! But always leaves the place sparkling enough that you can venture into the unknown world of showering without flip-flops on...

As for the staff, you couldn't ask for more from your personal trainers. Friendly, welcoming and passionate about their jobs they will happily give out free advice when you mention your own personal goals etc, and are so easy to approach.

To conclude; I am a huge lover of Racquets. I do sometimes say that I will eventually change to a bigger gym, however I know my heart belongs there and I never actually really entertain the thought of leaving. For £39 a month, I can walk in any time of the day and exercise, play squash, join classes and sit in the bar, also with it being smack bang in the middle of Thame, what more could you want?!

Anyone who wants to start working out then give it a try, as everyone is impartial in this 'intimidation free' gym. Or even if you simply want to have a squash game with a relative, friend or work colleague as a one off. I'm proud to be a member of a great Thame gym.

Feel free to post this with your followers if you think it's of interest to the people of Thame!'

Thank you for providing a glowing reference for Racquets, why wouldn't we share this with our followers? It's a great example of someone happy with a well-run local business. To have your say, review a business - good or bad, get in touch: [email protected]
