Last weekend The Thame Sinaia Friendship Association visited Thame to take part in the Thame Arts and Literature (TAL) Festival.
Felicia Mirza, Cecilia Francu and Octavia Floricica travelled from Sinaia in Romania. On Friday they visited Oxford and on Saturday Waddesdon Manor. Also on Saturday they met with the Mayor Ann Midwinter and presented her with two volumes of Queen Maria of Romania’s biography which will be placed in Thame Library.
On Sunday they presented a short introduction to Queen Maria who was a great granddaughter of Queen Victoria which was well received by the audience in the Town Hall.
On Sunday evening they were joined by other members of the association and took part in the TAL Quiz. Unfortunately they scored the least and won the Smarties! However considering the quiz was in a foreign language to them it was brave to take part. Can you imagining taking part in a quiz in Romanian?
On Monday morning they were taken on a walk around Thame by David Bretherton who pointed out the various interesting and historical buildings in Thame.
All of our visitors were extremely pleased with the way they were received by the people of Thame and loved the town and the surrounding area
