Specialist accountancy practice under new identity after more than 40 years in business

A specialist accountancy practice for the dental sector is cutting its teeth under a new identity after more than 40 years in business to reflect the firm’s long-term growth plans.

DBS Chartered Certified Accountants, based at Station Yard in Thame, has changed its name to Baldwins after it was acquired last summer by the Baldwins Group – a business advisory firm which has 97 offices across the UK.

DBS was formed in 1990 by George Manolescue employs 12 staff and services more than 400 dental clients around the UK, ranging from practice owners, corporates and groups, partnerships and self-employed dental associates through to therapists and hygienists.

Their services beyond tax and accounts compliance include; bookkeeping, management accounts, payroll, the purchase and sale of practices and associated business and tax consultancy requirements.

The firm will continue to be led by Vanessa Pople, supported by Nick Stewart, Judith Carrington and the team at Network House in Thame.

George Manolescue said: “Joining Baldwins last year was such a landmark moment in the history of the firm when we became part of a national network of accountancy expertise.

“We are now part of a group where we are ideally set up to assist the growth of private dental practices, who require a wide range of business advice to set their business up, monitor performance, raise finance for investment and exploit new growth opportunities alongside general services such as bookkeeping.

“As we celebrate our first year as part of the Baldwins Group, we felt now was the right time to change our name to reflect the exciting journey of growth that we are on as part of a national team of business advisory experts.”

Ian Gould, Regional Director at Baldwins, has helped to integrate DBS into the Baldwins Group.

He added: “Having a firm on board with such a niche offering strengthens Baldwins’ expertise in the business advisory market.

“DBS has built up an impressive client base and reputation over the years so we’re really proud to have them operating under the Baldwins name, and we look forward to using their expertise across our national network of offices to advise other dental practices across the country.”

Baldwins, a CogitalGroup company, has 97 offices across England, Scotland and Wales – employing more than 3,000 staff with an annual turnover of approximately £225 million.
