Thame Food Festival continues to make a difference with it’s Bursary for LOCAL Artisan Food Producers

Building on the success of last year’s financial bursary for local Artisan food producers, Thame Food Festival is doing it again! Any newly formed artisan food business within a 50 mile radius of Thame in Oxfordshire which has been going for a year or less is eligible.

The successful applicant will be awarded £1,000, receive a free pitch at this year’s event, be highlighted in the festival programme and get help with PR and social media.

As patron and event co-ordinator Lotte Duncan said “Yet again, we are absolutely delighted to spread the reach of Thame Food Festival by offering a local Artisan Food producer this wonderful bursary. It is only because of the success of the event and everyone that comes that we are now in the financial position to be able to give something back.  Our aim is to support a fledging business starting out and to help a lucky Artisan Food producer make their product outstanding, delicious and successful.”

This is what the winner of the 2018 Bursary and owner of Tess’ Brilliant Bakes - Lisa Hartwright - said about last year:

“Since being awarded the Thame Food Festival Bursary, my life has changed immeasurably.  I gave up my full time job last August, to devote my time fully to building my business and since then I haven't looked back!  Thame Food Festival has given my business a tremendous boost.  Since the announcement of the Bursary award my turnover has at least doubled. This is in some way down to the confidence the panel have given me. I can't quite compute that these wonderful people had faith in me, and saw potential in my cakes and bakes. In fact so much that they were willing to take a punt on me!  That has given me the confidence to push myself and my business that little bit harder, and achieve so much more than I had imagined I could.”

To enter, they need to supply as much information about the business and how they came up with the concept and how they see the product and business developing over the next five years. Full details on how to enter can be found on the Thame Food Festival website, including emailing [email protected] for an APPLICATION FORM.

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
