Thame Town Council have been operating a mowing regime for the verges alongside the “Thame Bypass”. This has meant cutting the verges to leave the rear part uncut from first cut in Spring to the second cut in late/early Autumn. The edges are close cut more often during the season for walkers and for better sight lines for drivers.
In order to see how effective this is in bringing about a resurgence of wildflowers and other pollinating plants, a group of volunteers survey twice each year 4 plots alongside Tythrop Way and Howland Road recording flowering plants and other plants assessing the increase of species. Over the four years of surveying we are noticing increases in flowering plants.
On Friday 29th May and Monday 7th September we will be carrying out Spring and early Autumn surveys. Commencing at 10am and finishing around noon.
Volunteers are welcome to join in.
