Thame Red Kites Walking Football Brings Football Home to Cuttlebrook Hall Residents for the 2026 World Cup

23rd June 2026

On Monday 29th June at 2pm to 4pm players from the newly formed Thame Red Kites Walking Football Club
(formerly Thame Walking Football), join forces with Care UK to bring football home to the football veterans of
Cuttlebrook Hall. This celebration is part of Care UK’s ‘Goal-den Moments’ initiative.

Colin Tomkinson Co-Founder of the club says ‘ We want to encourage greater participation in sport and physical
activity among adults of all ages and abilities in the local community’.

Walking Football: An Inclusive Approach to the Beautiful Game

Walking Football offers a slower-paced, low-impact version of the traditional game, making it accessible for
people who may have previously stepped away from football due to injury, age, or fitness concerns. With running
and physical contact strictly forbidden, the focus is on skill, strategy, and social enjoyment, ensuring everyone
can take part regardless of experience or ability.

Weekly Sessions and Open Invitation

Thame Red Kites host weekly Walking Football sessions at Lord William Lower School in Thame every Wednesday
from 6pm to 7pm for just £5. Membership is open to men aged 50 and over and women aged 40 and over.

Benefits Beyond the Pitch

Walking Football is not just about keeping fit; it’s also an excellent opportunity to socialise and meet new friends.
Participants frequently report improvements in both physical and mental wellbeing, as well as a renewed sense of
camaraderie and community spirit.
