A THAME opticians is supporting a local art centre through the donation of old pairs of specs.
Specsavers in Thame made the donation to Renboga, after the centre’s founder approached the store to see if they could support her mission to help more children enjoy art.
‘We were delighted to be able to help out Rosie, (the owner of Renboga), and it’s great that these old specs will have a new purpose,’ comments Neil Perry, store director at Specsavers Thame.
At Renboga children plan and lead their own art projects. The specs will be used by the children to familiarise themselves with how it feels to wear glasses, as well as props for art and creative play.
‘We will use the glasses as part of an opticians role play game, which can be a very helpful way to prepare for real eye tests in the future, and also to dress up and experiment with style and identity,’ adds Rosie.
‘The team at Specsavers Thame were so generous. They responded to my cheeky request with such enthusiasm and had organised some glasses ready for me the next day. When I arrived to collect them I was greeted with a beautiful package including several frames and glasses cases in a decorated box.’
