Thame Leisure Centre Hosts Family Open Weekender Packed with Fun and Fitness

Thame Leisure Centre is inviting residents to get active and have fun at its Big Open Weekender, taking place on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November.

The event promises a packed schedule of activities designed to keep the whole family entertained and moving. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular in the local fitness community, the team says the weekend is the perfect chance to explore everything the centre has to offer.

“Our leisure centres are all about promoting health, fitness, and well-being for individuals and families of all ages and abilities,” said the organisers.

Visitors can look forward to a variety of challenges and competitions, with some great prizes up for grabs:

  • Adult Rowing Competition: Participants can test their speed by rowing 500m as fast as possible.
    • Centre Prize: A fitness bundle including an ab wheel, resistance band, and skipping rope.
    • Partnership Prize: A £50 Love to Shop voucher.
  • Children’s Colouring Competition: Young visitors can get creative with Rocky the Rhino for a chance to win.
    • Centre Prize: Free swim for two adults and two children.
    • Partnership Prize: A free one-to-one swimming lesson.

Competition entrants will also receive slap wristbands while supplies last.

Haddenham Park Care Home: Stroke UK Meet & Move
Join the Stroke UK Meet & Move monthly support group for stroke survivors and their caregivers. Hosted as part of the Stroke Association support network, each session offers helpful information, resources, and a welcoming community. Stroke survivors can take part in a 45–60 minute exercise class led by a qualified instructor, while caregivers can enjoy coffee and social time in the piano lounge and connect with others. Join this free monthly support group for people living with Parkinson's and their caregivers. Held on the first Monday of every month from 11:00am–12:00pm, the session includes a gentle, physiotherapist-led exercise class for participants with Parkinson's, while caregivers can enjoy coffee, cake and the opportunity to connect with others in a relaxed, supportive environment.
