Thame Equipment Bank is at risk

14th July 2025

Thame Equipment Bank is a community run 'Library of Things' specifically setup to allow community led initiatives to be able to hire marquees, gazebos, chairs, tables and other items of equipment needed to run events.  This allows the community organisations to raise as much money as possible for their charities and organisations rather than incurring high costs of equipment hire.

The bank is predominantly volunteer run.

The current volunteers have been involved for more than 10 years.

Without two new keyholders the bank may need to close.

With 3 keyholders the load of meeting hirers for collections and drop offs is shared.

Collections and returns are pre-booked at a time arranged to suit the keyholders and usually take 15-30 minutes depending on the number of items of equipment.

Currently they have a wonderful lady who liaises with the hirers and the keyholders to arrange the appointments so the keyholder role is just to meet and show the hirers which equipment to take.

They even ask the hirers to bring enough people to do all the lifting so that the keyholder doesn't actually have to lift a finger.

Please do contact Thame Equipment Bank if you would like to be shown the role.  The more keyholders there are, the easier it is for everyone - and the Thame Equipment Bank can continue to serve the community.

Death Cafe @ Thame Barns Centre
You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
