Thame company wins ‘Best Equipment/Machinery Supplier’ at UK Meat Industry Awards

Interfood Technology has made it a hat-trick of wins with the announcement that the company is the ‘Best Equipment/Machinery Supplier’ for 2017 following the presentation of the Meat Management Industry Awards on 28 June.

This is the third time since the prestigious awards were first presented that Interfood has won, with the 2017 black-tie event ceremony taking place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at which some 400 guests celebrated the best in the UK meat industry.  Receiving the award from stand-up comedian and performer Miles Jupp, Andre Clareboets and Richard Nethercot, representing the Leadership Team at Interfood, said – “It is very pleasing to receive recognition from an industry of which we are very proud to be a part and we would like to heartily congratulate all the 2017 Award winners.   It is ‘striving to be the best that you can be’, that ensures that we continue to move forward as an industry and respond to the challenges that we all face.”

Awards were presented in 19 categories, along with a special ‘Excellence Award’ for an outstanding contribution to the UK meat industry which went to Julien Pursglove, Institute of Meat (IoM) accredited Master Butcher for Sainsbury’s.

Interfood Technology is now in its 18th year of supplying food manufacturing, processing and production machinery from many of the leading manufacturers from around the world.  Growing year on year, Interfood now has specialist Divisions operating in Butchery, Fresh Meat Portioning, Preparation, Curing to Clipping, Cooking & Cooling/Pasteurisation, Slicing, and Packing Solutions. The equipment supplied through each of these divisions offers specific capabilities, with regional-based teams of engineers, backed by support personnel, to ensure a swift and efficient service.

Alongside the industry experts involved in the judging process, the awards are voted for by the readers of  ‘Meat Management’ magazine so represent the thoughts of those actually involved in producing meat products throughout the UK.  This means that the award comes from those who are best placed to judge the performance of the companies supplying the best in equipment and machinery that is so crucial to optimising day to day production, as well as providing the platform for ongoing innovation and product development.

Interfood continues to play an active role in the UK and Ireland meat industry, with James Sydenham, Joint Managing Director, having been a past Festival Chairman of the BDCI (Butchers’ & Drovers’ Charitable Institution) – a position that 2017 Excellence Award winner, Julien Pursglove, currently holds.  As part of its commitment to promoting best practice in the industry, Interfood is the sponsor of the Manufacturer of the Year Award which this year was won by Faccenda Foods.

These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space.
