6th November 2025
Please see the below update from the Thame Carnival team:
After many wonderful years of community celebration, Sharon is stepping down as Lead for Thame Carnival due to personal reasons. The committee has also decided to step down, not because we want to give up, but because despite repeated pleas for help, we currently have fewer than five volunteers — which simply isn’t enough to run an event of this scale.
We’re incredibly proud of what Carnival 2025 achieved — especially being able to donate £1,000 each to three amazing local charities. That’s a legacy worth celebrating! ![]()
At this time, the committee isn’t in a position to continue, and the Carnival cannot go ahead without significantly more community engagement. While we’re not reinventing the event ourselves, we do hope this pause creates space for a fresh reinvention — led by new energy and ideas from the community.
If you’re passionate about bringing Carnival back in the future, please reach out to 21st Century Thame for a friendly conversation. Volunteers, organisers, and supporters will all be needed to make it happen.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Carnival over the years — your enthusiasm and community spirit have made it truly special. ![]()
Warm wishes,
The Thame Carnival Team
