A new campaign from 21st Century Thame is encouraging residents to take four simple steps to help hedgehogs as autumn approaches.
The campaign advises people to provide suitable food and fresh water, create “hedgehog highways” by allowing access between gardens, use sheltered feeding stations and record hedgehog sightings.
Residents are also encouraged to work with neighbours to create connected gardens, report sightings and register as a Hedgehog Champion through Hedgehog Street.
The campaign highlights that autumn can be a challenging time for hedgehogs as natural insects become harder to find, with supplementary food and safe garden access helping them prepare for hibernation.
