Red Kite Radio, Thame's local radio station reaches it's 3rd birthday this Thursday June 18th

Since its first broadcast back in 2017, Red Kite Radio has seen many changes - including a greatly enlarged team of volunteers presenting a much wider range of specialist music shows than ever before

Still based in their studio in Haddenham Garden Centre, courtesy of the Hawkins family, Red Kite Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, no mean feat for a team of less than a dozen determined and dedicated presenters, together with their growing team of news readers.

Station Manager Steve Fox said "Without our team of devoted presenters and newsreaders, Red Kite Radio would not exist. It is their enthusiasm and professionalism that see the station through its punishing schedule. All of our presenters are unpaid and during the current pandemic have had to adapt to working from home in order to keep us on air. The COVID19 crisis has brought us other challenges too. During 2020 we have seen the virtual extinction of our revenue from both advertisers and fundraising events. Without the goodwill and donations of local organisations, councils and our loyal listeners we would not be here now."

Last year Red Kite Radio were nominated for three national awards for their programming and are looking to build on that in the coming year.

Red Kite Radio will continue to be in the heart of the community and will always look to get involved in any charitable event in the local area, whether that be in terms of promotion to the community or taking part in the event itself.
