It isn't illegal to feed red kites, but there isn't much need to. There is loads of food for red kites around, so there is no need to feed them. There's been some recent reports of red kites acting like gulls and taking food right out of people's hands. So please enjoy red kites from a distance, or you might find your ice cream or sandwich being stolen, or worse still you get injured.
