Residents and visitors alike are invited to a special evening of music and remembrance as the RAF Halton and RAF Voluntary Band host a commemorative concert marking the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
The VJ Day Concert, taking place on Saturday 5 July 2025 at St Mary’s Church, Thame, will feature a wide-ranging musical programme that honours the legacy of the Second World War. The band will perform pieces spanning from original military compositions to beloved wartime songs, providing a moving tribute to the sacrifices and resilience of those who served during WWII.
Organised in partnership with Thame Town Council, the event offers free admission to all attendees. A retiring collection will be held in support of the Thame Royal British Legion Branch, continuing efforts to assist veterans and their families.
The concert begins at 7pm and will run until 9pm. The band’s appearance is made possible by the kind permission of the Station Commander at RAF Halton, reinforcing the strong community ties between the RAF and the people of Thame.
This poignant evening promises reflection, celebration, and unity through the universal language of music—an opportunity not to be missed.
