Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire county council officers confirmed during the winter that work was underway on plans to develop a greenway connecting Haddenham and Thame. The update was welcomed by members of the Greenway Group, which had long campaigned for a safe, off-road route between the two communities.
In December, members of the group took part in a cycle ride along the A418 to Haddenham alongside Freddie van Mierlo MP, Buckinghamshire councillor Kate Gregory and Thame Mayor Andy Gilbert. The ride was intended to highlight the need for a safe cycling and walking route between the towns.
The Greenway Group also announced plans for a “Glow Ride for the Greenway,” scheduled to take place on 20 March. The event was planned as a short evening cycle around Thame, with participants using bike lights to raise awareness of the project.
