Priorities
Rural crime: Due to proactive patrols and operations by the Thame Neighbourhood Policing Team, reports of rural crime have dramatically fallen since January 2018, which is great news. Rural crime does still remain a priority for the Thame Neighbourhood Team. Officers have been conducting regular high visibility patrols around the rural area and continue to run rural crime based operations. The team work in partnership with local landowners who act as ‘spotters’ as they have a good local knowledge and patrol the rural areas.
On Sunday the 4th of March officers from Thame Neighbourhood Team stopped two suspicious 4x4’s which were covered in mud. The occupants details were taken for intelligence purposes and the males were let on their way as no offences had been linked with the vehicles.
On Sunday the 11th March officers from Thame neighbourhood team arrested a male in Berinsfield on suspicion of hare coursing offences after he abandoned his 4x4 vehicle and made off. The male was released and there was no further action due to evidential difficulties. However, the dogs and vehicle were seized for ownership enquiries.
Anti-social behaviour (ASB): On Monday the 5th of March PCSOs Jackson and Dollery issued a section 59 warning to a male seen driving in an anti-social manner in Thame. Please continue to report any ASB and vehicle ASB by calling 101.
Burglary: Patrols are continuing throughout the local policing area to try and deter offenders and gather intelligence. Home security is the best way to reduce your chances of being burgled. A lot of burglaries are spur of the moment, carried out by opportunist thieves who don’t even have to use force – they get in through an open door, window or other easy point of entry and take their chances. Spending money on security measures can seem daunting but it’s a good investment. Look at your home through the eyes of a burglar! If you think your home security is poor so will the burglar. Are there places where they could break in without being seen? If you have forgotten your keys but can still get in so can a burglar! Offenders brought to justice
A male who is believed to be involved in drug supply in the Thame/Wheatley area was arrested by officers in Oxford in February for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. The male has been charged and remanded for court.
The Thame neighbourhood team ran an operation in Thame on Monday the 12th of March. Three suspicious vehicles were stop checked. One vehicle had no tax, another contained a male in possession of cannabis and another vehicle was on false plates. Enquiries are under way with the vehicle on false plates.
Witness appeal following the theft of a Defender
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a Land Rover Defender in Chinnor, between 5.40pm Monday (5/3) and 7.33am Tuesday (6/3) unknown offenders stole a red Land Rover Defender (index N***XCT) from a driveway on Mill Lane, Chinnor. Thame and Wheatley team changes
The Thame and Wheatley Neighbourhood Team would like to welcome Sergeant Neil Anns. Neil is the newly appointed Sergeant for the team and looks forward to meeting many of you at local events. PSCO Graham Davey is now the PCSO for Chinnor and Watlington. Graham has come from the Henley Neighbourhood team to support us.
