Planning Decisions
Three major applications in Thame have recently been determined by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) and, positively, the decisions are in line with the Town Council’s recommendations:
- Former Co-Op site, 6-8 High Street (P25/S0868/FUL) – Granted planning permission for the refurbishment of the site, including six commercial units and a new courtyard, and new residential accommodation on the first floor.
- Land east of Howland Road / South of Kingsey Road (P24/S3132/O) – Refused planning permission for the development of up to 75 homes for over 55s.
- Land between Chestnut Farmhouse and Elm View, Moreton (P25/S1954/PIP) – Refused planning permission for the development of up to 3 dwellings.
New Planning Application – Cuttle Brook Scrapes
Of interest to residents in Thame, in particular those on the Chiltern Vale estate, will be the retrospective planning application by the Town Council for two scrapes and the placement of the arising spoil within the Cuttle Brook Nature Reserve. This application is now live and open for public comments (P25/S1979/FUL). The Town Council’s Planning Committee will make a recommendation to SODC at its meeting on 26 August (you can view the agenda at the bottom of this newsletter).
Planning Response – Land North of Oxford Road
At the Full Council meeting on 12 August, the Town Council submitted a holding objection on the third round of amended plans at Land North of Oxford Road (P23/S4262/FUL). Whilst the amended plans address some concerns, the Town Council objected on the grounds of the quantum and distribution of housing, and that the risk of flooding to build development has not yet been satisfactorily addressed. A fourth round of amended plans has just been submitted. The Town Council will consider this at a public meeting – date to be confirmed.
