New UOE Store Opens in Thame Ahead of Official Launch Event

14th April 2026

A new retail hub providing everyday essentials and key services has opened in Thame, bringing greater convenience to the local community. The new store will be based at the historic Glynswood site in Thame.

The newly launched UOE Store aims to serve as a one-stop destination for residents, providing a wide range of products including greeting cards, gifts, stationery, and school supplies, alongside practical services such as printing, copying, and scanning.

The store is already welcoming customers, with an official launch event scheduled for 21 April. The occasion will be marked by a ceremonial pink ribbon cutting, with members of the public invited to attend and celebrate the opening.

Positioned as a local convenience hub, the store is designed to meet everyday needs—from last-minute birthday purchases to early-morning school supply runs—while also supporting the community with accessible services.

The refreshed space preserves the shop’s much-loved established retail team, the historical character of the building and the local character of the range. Significant investment will be made in modernising the interior to create an inviting environment that highlights local suppliers and artisan products, alongside the enhanced customer service and community engagement which parent company UOE is known for.

The opening reflects the continued expansion of UOE, a long-established independent business that has operated on the British high street since 1983. Known for combining traditional services with modern retail offerings, the company has evolved from its early roots in typewriters and postal services to a broader mix of technology, stationery, and community-focused support.

A social media post emphasised that they were “proud to be part of the Thame community,”.

More information about store locations and services can be found on the company’s official website.

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
