New Chair-Based Exercise Class Launching in Thame with Free Taster Session on June 5th

19th May 2025

A new chair-based exercise class is coming to Thame Leisure Centre this June, offering a gentle yet effective fitness option for older adults, individuals with mobility challenges, or anyone looking to build confidence in a supportive environment.

The first free taster session will be held on Thursday, 5th June 2025, from 11:00 to 11:45am in the centre’s studio. Following the launch, the class will run weekly at the same time and location for a cost of £5 per session. Please note, the centre accepts card payments only.

Chair-based exercise is designed to improve stability, balance, and overall fitness through low-intensity, accessible movements. It’s ideal for those starting their fitness journey or looking to regain strength at their own pace.

This new class is being delivered in partnership with the Move Together team at South Oxfordshire District Council and will run for an initial 8-week pilot period, with the potential to continue based on community interest and attendance.

Participants are encouraged to book in advance, but the leisure centre team will also be available to assist with bookings on the day. It’s also a great opportunity to meet the instructor, Astrid, and ask any questions before committing.
