New 600 bus service comes to Oxford's park & rides

5th March 2025

Following a successful tender win with Oxfordshire County Council, Stagecoach West is delighted to announce some improvements and enhancements to its network in the county, including the introduction of a brand-new route – Service 600.

From Sunday 23rd February 2025, Service 600 will start operating a new route connecting Redbridge Park & Ride with Oxford Science Park, Greater Leys, Cowley Centre, Churchill Hospital, Oxford Brookes University, JR Hospital and Thornhill Park & Ride. Running every 30 minutes (Monday to Saturday) daytimes and every hour on evenings and Sundays, the 600 delivers new links and easier travel options for commuters and leisure passengers, in these areas.

The new service operating with fully electric buses is designed to provide more links for work-based commuting from park and ride sites to the major employers in the Eastern Arc of the city.

Customers using the Park and Ride sites can benefit from the Park and Ride bus and parking ticket which is priced at £4 a day (£5 for two adults) available from the RingGo app or from the ticket machines on site.

Chris Hanson, Managing Director, Stagecoach West, says: “We are delighted to be introducing the 600 into our Oxfordshire network.  This brand-new route vastly improves links and transport options in the area for commuters to major employment sites at the Science Park, Oxford Brookes University and the city’s Churchill and John Radcliffe hospitals. With great value-for-money ticket options available at the Park and Ride sites, we believe that this service will be popular as people look to take the stress out of their commute. We look forward to welcoming everyone on board from 23rd February.”

Councillor Andrew Gant, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport Management, said: "This is a new service offering a terrific option for residents on the back of our commitment to managing congestion and freeing up space for bus services.

“This kind of improvement is a direct result of schemes like the traffic filters, despite the unwelcome delay they are experiencing. So are the wonderful electric buses now moving silently around our streets. I'm really proud of the partnership with our bus operators to free our streets and bring much improved public transport. There is much more to come."

As well as the introduction of Service 600, Sunday 23rd February sees Stagecoach make additional improvements to its bus network in Oxfordshire. The S7 will extend beyond Witney Market Square, to start and end at Corn Street and the ever–popular S2 service will feature new early morning and late evening trips between Witney and Oxford along with some additional early morning trips via Yarnton, improving connections to Oxford at those times of day.As part of the same tender round, Stagecoach West will no longer operate the H2 service.  From 23rd February 2025, Pulhams Coaches will run this route.

We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
