New 400m Grass Track Available for Summer Running

25th July 2025

There is a new 400m grass running track is open at Southern Road Recreation Ground and available for public use throughout the summer months!

This professionally marked oval track offers runners of all abilities a softer, more natural surface that's easier on joints while still providing the precise distance measurements needed for training and fitness goals.

Whether you're a seasoned athlete looking to add variety to your workout routine, a casual jogger seeking a gentler alternative to pavement, or someone just starting their running journey, this track provides the perfect environment to build endurance and speed.

The track will remain accessible daily from dawn to dusk through to the end of September, offering our community a fantastic opportunity to enjoy outdoor exercise.
The track is ideal for setting your next personal best (PB), interval training, tempo runs, or simply enjoying a leisurely jog. We encourage all park users to respect the space being mindful of other users.

TTC would love to get your thoughts on this addition to the park, let them have your feedback and even tell them your PBs via [email protected]
