A sushi counter, a dry aged beef cabinet, expanded wine department, revamped meat and fish counters and hundreds of new products to choose from are just some of the new features customers at Waitrose Thame can look forward to this summer.
The Greyhound Lane store, which celebrates 33 years of serving the town this year, will undergo a multi-million pound transformation from 16 June ahead of a new look being unveiled later this summer.
The shop will remain open whilst a phased programme of works takes place with more details to be shared with customers over the coming weeks.
Highlights from the investment being made include:
- Upgraded service counters: Meat and fish counters have been upgraded, including a new dry aged beef offer.
- More fresh self-serve options:. A new served and self-service cheese has been added along with a self-serve hot chicken and a new look bakery.
- New third party collaboration: A Sushi Daily counter will be introduced to offer a range of sushi dishes freshly made everyday by a skilled team of sushi artisans.
- Expanded wine offer: Its award-winning wine selection has been given greater prominence with a significantly improved range.
- A new welcome for customers: A new dedicated John Lewis click and collect desk to make collections and returns for greater convenience.
- New refrigeration and freezers: Existing units will be replaced to improve energy efficiency.
- New self-serve checkouts: More self-serve tills added and reconfigured to provide customers with more space.
- New John Lewis products: A small selection of John Lewis gifts and homeware will be introduced.
- Improved car parking: The entire car park will be improved with resurfacing and wider spaces to provide a better shopping experience for shoppers.
- Refurbished customer toilets
Waitrose Branch Manager, Steve Bushell, said:

"We will make every effort to minimise disruption whilst works are underway, however we felt it was important to remain open for our customers who can look forward to some exciting changes over the coming weeks. The end result will be worth the wait."
