It was a good day for Thame United’s first team, who took on Hertford Town at the ASM Stadium in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One. It didn’t take long for the home side to get in front, with Curtis Brown scoring after just one minute. Tom McElroy made it two, and Dan West added a third in the 18th minute. Thame remained in a comfortable position and had chances to add to the score before Fabian Garcia won a penalty in the 87th minute, which was converted by Jefferson Louis to wrap up the win and the three points. Thame remain in seventh place in the league with 21 points.
Thame United Reserves maintained their good run of form in the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division with an away win against Chalgrove Cavaliers. Goals from Matt Johnson and Joshua Russell secured the victory and kept the Thame side in second place in the table with 18 points, behind Yarnton First on goal difference.
Thame United A had an away trip to Watlington Town in the second round of the Marsh Challenge Cup. It was the home side who progressed to the next round with a 3-0 victory.
In the Aylesbury and District League, it was cup action for Thame United B, who took on Great Missenden in the second round of the Presidents League Cup at Meadow View Park. It proved to be a tough afternoon for Thame against the Premier League side, as they went down 0-9 and were eliminated from the cup competition. It was a similar story in Division Two, this time in the league, as Thame United C went to Wendover Reserves with a much-depleted team and suffered a 6-0 defeat.
Thame United Over 50s were back in action this weekend when they traveled to East Hendred to play Chilsey in Division One of the Oxfordshire Veterans League. It was a good day for the Thame side, coming away with a 7-2 victory to remain unbeaten and consolidate their top spot in the league.
In the Thames Valley Counties Women’s League Division Two, Thame United Women traveled to Reading to take on Caversham AFC Women, with first playing second. In a close match, Caversham came out on top with a 1-0 victory. The defeat for Thame was the first of the season, dropping them to fourth in the table, but they have played two games fewer than the sides around them.
