Free Trees and Hedge Packs Up for Grabs in Thame’s Big Tree Giveaway

25th November 2025

Please see the below update from 21st Century Thame:

Time for the Big Tree Giveaway again, now including free hedge packs as well as garden-suitable trees! This year the trees are delivered to us without being pre-ordered, so it's first come, first served from our delivery. We will have:

- Hazel, rowan, spindle, wayfaring tree, guelder rose and crab apple

- hedge packs of up to 50 mixed native species which can create up to 10 metres of hedge.

You can request your tree(s) ahead or come and chat to us on the days (Thursday 4 Dec 0930-12, Sat 6 Dec 0930-12, outside the Town Hall, other times by special arrangement if essential). They are bareroot so need planting within a few days of collection and the roots kept protected and not allowed to dry out, so bring a plastic bag with a string or band to tie the top, or keep closely wrapped in damp newspaper.

NB If you have a disability or health condition that means you could not collect or plant your own tree or hedge pack, please let us know and we will do our best to help.

Thank you to the International Tree Foundation and Community Action Groups Oxfordshire for providing these trees, and to our sponsors Lucy Electric, BP Collins LLP and Lightfoots Solicitors, and Thame Town Council for support and collaboration.
