Fancy a trip to Thame’s twin town, Montesson, near Paris this September?

If so, you would be warmly welcomed join us to celebrate Thame Twinning’s 25th birthday.

Dates: Friday 18th – Sunday 20th September 2026

Don’t worry if you can’t speak French! Our hosts often like the chance to practise their English. On the other hand, this is the ideal time to develop your language skills if you can speak French…and there is always sign language!

People from Thame and the surrounding villages have enjoyed making friends with residents of Montesson for 25 years. Several friendships have lasted decades, and the visits are always full fun and conviviality.

Thame residents visit Montesson in September, and the French come to Thame in May. We stay with our hosts for two nights and there is an option to join an excursion on the Saturday. Alternatively, there is easy access by Metro into Paris.

This year Thame Twinning Association has booked a comfortable coach, and the trip is partially subsidised by the organisation. The more people who join, the cheaper it will be. This year it is estimated to be about £190 per person.

We leave very early on the Friday, stop off in France on the way. On the Friday evening, we go home with our hosts and enjoy an evening meal. On the Saturday, there is an excursion with a picnic, then an evening reception in the Montesson Town Hall followed by a firework display and dancing into the night!

On the Sunday morning, we spend time with hosts and then leave for England about lunch time to arrive in Thame very late evening.

Death Cafe @ Thame Barns Centre
You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
