Cuttle Brook is one of Thame's most valued natural spaces, and we want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy it. The existing path can be difficult or impossible to navigate for many wheelchair and mobility scooter users, pushchairs and others who need a firmer, more reliable surface.
Next week, work will start to resurface the main route to help more people experience the reserve more independently.
Location of works are shown in pink on the map
Spring Path → along the east side of the brook → Phoenix Trail
Southern Road Recreation Ground → Spring Path
The aim is simple: to make the Local Nature Reserve more accessible to more people.
The work will involve removing the existing top layer of the path and clearing away the debris and material that has built up over time. This will then be replaced with the same type of surfacing originally used for these paths – recycled road planings.
The new surface will initially look fresh and noticeably different from the established path around it. However, we know from experience that it will weather naturally and, over time blend into its surroundings. The aim is to restore the path to a durable, usable condition while retaining the character of the route through the Nature Reserve.
