Covid booster update from the Rycote Practice

You may be aware that there is currently a national effort to deliver as many Covid vaccines as possible before the end of December due to surging Covid infection rates. The Rycote Practice is working hard to help keep Thame safe and we are focusing all our efforts on supporting this vaccination drive. We will be holding vaccination clinics every morning and afternoon on weekdays until Christmas Eve with the hope of ensuring that thousands more patients receive their Covid boosters this month. Vaccination appointments will be available on:

Thursday 16 December AM and PM
Friday 17 December AM and PM
Monday 20 December AM and PM
Tuesday 21 December AM and PM
Wednesday 22 December Am and PM
Thursday 23 December AM and PM

You are now eligible to receive your Covid booster if you are over 18 and received your second Covid dose more than 3 months ago. Please DO NOT call the surgery. We will send you a link to book with the surgery automatically. Patients who do not have a mobile phone will be contacted by the surgery to arrange an appointment. We will be prioritising housebound patients, those over the age of 50 and those with underlying health conditions. Please note that you can also book your Covid booster online at one of the regional vaccination centres via this link https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

This will require a monumental effort. We will do our best to continue our normal appointments but to help us, we ask that you only contact the practice if you have an urgent medical problem requiring same day assistance. We may need to postpone some routine appointments during December to release the staff to redeploy them to the vaccination programme. We apologise for any inconvenience.

We would like to thank our staff for the thousands of extra hours they have worked over the past year to support the vaccination programme under very challenging circumstances. We would also like to thank patients for their ongoing support and understanding – your kind words and encouragement are very much appreciated. We are desperately keen to return to 'normal' as soon as we can.

We encourage everyone to get their Covid booster as soon as they are eligible. Stay safe and fingers crossed for a Merry Christmas!
