Community groups can apply for a share of £200,000 in crime prevention funding

5th February 2025

Matthew Barber, Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Thames Valley, has officially opened the first round of this year’s Community Fund, with a particular focus on supporting projects that address anti-social behaviour and vehicle crime.

The Community Fund, jointly managed by the PCC and the Chief Constable, is designed to prevent crime and enhance community safety. The scheme is funded through proceeds from the sale of items seized from criminals that cannot be returned to their rightful owners.

Grant Funding Available

Announcing the fund, Matthew Barber stated:
“A total of £200,000 of grant funding is available for community and voluntary groups to apply for, with the aim of supporting my Police and Crime Plan in order to reduce crime across Thames Valley. I look forward to receiving applications which support a range of areas within my Police and Crime Plan, particularly those which are focused on tackling anti-social behaviour and vehicle crime within our communities.”

Organisations across Thames Valley can apply for grants of up to £10,000 for projects that align with one of the PCC’s Police and Crime Plan priorities:

  • Protecting Communities (including anti-social behaviour and road safety)
  • Protecting People (including domestic abuse and the night-time economy)
  • Protecting Property (including cybercrime, fraud, and retail crime)

Application Process and Deadline

The closing date for this round of applications is 12pm (noon) on Monday, 24th February 2025. Further details on how to apply are available on the Community Fund webpage.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the Community Fund Guidance and Grant Funding Application Guide before submitting their applications. These documents are available for download below:
