Chinnor v Rotherham Titans preview

RICKY Khan is enthused by the competition for starting places as Chinnor prepare to host Rotherham Titans at Kingsey Road on Saturday.

The Thame-based side are looking to record their third-straight win in National League 1 and continue their perfect record in October.

Bonus-point wins over Bishops Stortford and Cinderford have helped Chinnor climb to fourth after six games.

Eight changes were made for last weekend’s win, with a number of players impressing on their return to the side following injury.

And backs coach Khan believes it is only a good thing to have such healthy competition in the squad.

He said: “Selection is getting more difficult, because we’re getting more and more players back fit.

“Josh Hodson was back in the side at the weekend and got himself a couple of tries, Will Flinn came in at nine and played really well. There is competition, but that’s what we want.

“There was a point where we didn’t have that, so we were selecting what we were able to.

“So now it’s a good headache to have everyone fighting for those positions.”

Chinnor are also bidding to make it three successive home victories and are eight points better off than this weekend’s visitors.

Rotherham head into the fixture on the back of narrow defeats to Birmingham Moseley and Darlington Mowden Park, but Khan is expecting a testing afternoon.

He said: “It’s going to be another tight fixture.

“We know everyone in this league is able to beat everybody, so it’s going to be tough.

“Obviously we’re undefeated at home and we want to keep hold of that.

“We’re trying to make this place a fortress and we want to make it difficult for any team that comes here.”
