Chinnor announce return of Sam Yawayawa

CHINNOR RFC Thame is delighted to reveal the return of Sam Yawayawa to Kingsey Road.

The 23-year-old rejoins for a second spell as we gear up to the 2021/22 National League 1 season.

Yawayawa has also taken up a Community Coach role at Chinnor, leading our Elite Training programme for children aged 7-18 years-old, while he will also be a part of our Colts coaching team.

Originally from Fiji, Sam’s family lived in Germany before moving to Scotland, who he has represented at U16, U18 and U20 level.

The former Leicester Tigers, Nottingham and Glasgow Warriors centre scored four tries in 18 appearances during his first spell with Chinnor in 2019/20.

Despite suffering an Achilles injury while with London Scottish last season, Yawayawa is progressing well with his rehab and is thrilled to be back.

He said: “I’m massively excited to be back at Chinnor – it’s a great Club with amazing supporters. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster of a year with my Achilles injury last season and Covid, but I’m very happy to finally be back on the field with the boys and smashing pre-season. There are a lot of new faces and some that are more familiar, but we’re all equally as eager to get out playing again after a year of no rugby. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this season.”

Chinnor RFC Thame Director of Rugby, Richard Thorpe added: “Whilst Sam is already a decorated rugby player, it is clear from the short time we have worked together this pre-season that he has even more potential than what we have already seen at Kingsey Road. Sam is a great character, and is already deeply connected throughout the Club with his new coaching roles. But it is his hunger to continue his development as a rugby player that really excites me, and I have no doubt his future in the game is a bright one. Welcome home, Sam!”

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
