On the run up to Christmas we often see a spike in robberies and burglaries, usually people needing more cash for Christmas presents. There is also the knowledge that a lot of cash is in circulation at this time of year.
Thames Valley Police is currently investigating two robberies, of Book Keepers, that have occurred in the last two weeks in the area.
Please remain vigilant and report ANY suspicious vehicles or people immediately on 999 if you believe a crime is imminent or taking place and 101 if you have any information on a crime that has already happened.
Please also consider the following:
•Install quality CCTV and make sure it is fully operational, with the correct time and date.
•Make sure security lighting and alarms systems are in use and working.
•Train all staff on what to do if a robbery does take place. Making sure they know how to use panic alarms and to call the police immediately. Keep your security procedures (i.e. locking up) and staff training up to date.
•Keep your perimeters secure and don’t leave skips, boxes or vehicles where they can be used for easy access to your building.
•Make sure your windows, doors, fire escapes and all locks are in good condition.
•Keep computers and other valuable secure.
•If a robbery takes place please try and get as much detailed information about the people and vehicles as possible and which direction they were travelling in.
