AFTER the ‘annus horribilis’ that was 2020, Inner Wheel and Rotary Club of Thame brought some Christmas cheer to 80 local residents.
As the annual senior citizens' Christmas tea party could not go ahead as planned, the organising committee of Inner Wheel, Rotary Club of Thame and Thame Town Council, with a grant from South Oxfordshire District Council and Sharing Life Trust, donations from Hampden Masonic Lodge and Waitrose arranged a doorstep delivery of afternoon tea and a floral gift which were delivered on 18 December. The recipients also had the chance to win a Waitrose goods worth £50 by successfully completing the Christmas quiz that was enclosed. The joint winners who each received a hamper were Praiwion Gordon and Owen Davies.
We would like to thank all our local volunteer drivers (Gill Read, pictured) and Thame Rotary Club who worked together to deliver the afternoon tea boxes to our local elderly residents and to all the sponsors for all their generous donations.
Ann Midwinter, Mayor of Thame said 'helping with the distribution of the tea boxes was one of the highlights of my year and after the year everyone has just had, hopefully it bought some much-needed Christmas cheer.'
