Please see the below update from Freddie van Mierlo MP:
As we settle into the new year, I want to update residents on some of the local issues I have been following and the positive developments in Thame. I am grateful to everyone who has shared their views with me — your feedback helps shape my work in Parliament and locally.
I have been following up on cross-county rail issues raised by Thame residents and am looking forward to meeting Chiltern Rail in the coming months to discuss progress and see proposed improvements first hand, including around station car parking. I will continue to press for a more reliable and accessible rail service for those who rely on it.
In December, I was pleased to take part in a bike ride to Haddenham in support of the campaign for a Thame to Haddenham Greenway. The ride was joined by Mayor Andy Gilbert, Cllr Kate Gregory, and local campaigners. Improving safe, sustainable travel links between our communities is important, and I will continue to support efforts to make this project a reality.
There has also been exciting news for Thame with funding approved for a new Community and Youth Centre at Southern Road Recreation Ground. This will create a modern, welcoming facility that supports community life and helps improve emotional and mental wellbeing for residents of all ages.
Many residents have also raised the need for greater choice in local shopping. Proposals for a new Lidl store in Thame are subject to the planning process, but if approved, this could provide more options and convenience for people in the town.
My constituency survey is currently being delivered to homes across Thame. I would be extremely grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete it. Your feedback will directly inform my work and priorities over the year ahead, and I want to hear what matters most to you.
If there is a local issue you would like me to raise or pursue on your behalf, please do get in touch at [email protected].
