Interested in running?

Are you interested in running? If so Thame Runners would like to invite you to their summer runs across July and August.

Wednesday 4th July – Club Run

Our club runs take place in the local area on both road and trail surfaces, and are a great way to get to find new routes, chat to other runners and enjoy being part of a group. We split into different groups with shorter slower runs of around 4-5 miles at 10-12 minutes to mile pace, to 6-7 miles at 8 minutes per mile or faster. We aim to get everyone in a suitable group with a run leader and we ensure no-one gets left behind! There is no charge.

We meet at Racquets Fitness Centre and leave at 7pm for a warm-up jog to the track where we run distances from 200-800 metres with rests in-between, then jog back to Racquets.

Thursday 19th July – Tempo Run

Our Tempo (or Threshold) Runs are designed to complement your normal runs by building both speed and endurance at your race pace; great for anyone looking to improve their race times and achieve personal bests! There is no charge.

If you can already run 10k and want to get faster this is an excellent training session for you. We cater for runners who run a 10-12 minutes per mile, down to those who can run twice that fast!

We meet at Racquets Fitness Centre and leave at 7pm for a warm-up jog to the start close to LWS Lower School. There is a 2 mile distance or 3.5 mile option for faster runners, with the goal of running for 20-30 minutes at a consistent but faster pace.

Wed 8th August – Pub Run

Over the summer months Thame Runners hold weekly trail runs in the area, starting at a local pub and finishing there after about an hours run in the footpaths and bridleways; we have found it to be a great discovery of our local area. Many of us stay behind for short social drink afterwards, to which everyone is most welcome! There is no charge.

We split into different groups with shorter slower runs of around 4-5 miles at 10-12 minutes to mile pace, to 6-7 miles at 8 minutes per mile or faster. We aim to get everyone in a suitable group with a run leader and we ensure no-one gets lost or left behind!

This run starts and finishes at The Old Fisherman in Shabbington (HP18 9HJ).

We meet at Racquets Fitness Centre and leave at 7pm for a warm-up jog to the track where we run distances from 200-800 metres with rests in-between, then jog back to Racquets.

Death Cafe @ Thame Barns Centre
You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
