Priorities
Rural crime: This is a priority for the Thame Neighbourhood Team, particularly around the Watlington area. The neighbourhood team have been conducting high visibility ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) operations on roads that may be used by criminals targeting the rural area.
Officers have also been conducting regular high visibility patrols around the rural area.
PCSO Ryan Dollery C7695 is the point of contact for our rural community, including local farmers and game keepers.
To help tackle rural crime, there is a handy social media app which can be downloaded to different variations of smart phones, the app is called ‘Project Poacher’ and is free to download.

In light of these continuous patrols, offenders have been caught and ongoing investigations are being carried out in relation to offences.
Burglary: Burglary is also a priority for Thame and Wheatley Neighbourhood Policing Team. Patrols have been carried out over the festive period throughout the local policing area to try and deter offenders and gather intelligence. Please see the crime prevention section below for advice on how to keep your property secure.
Anti-social behaviour (ASB): ASB is still a priority for the team. We have been and will continue to conduct high visibility patrols through the town and in doing so have deterred ongoing problems. Drivers have been given section 59 warnings for using their vehicles in an anti-social manner and persons have been issues acceptable behaviour contracts to prevent further offences. Thame NHPT would urge members of the public to phone 101 if you are to witness any anti-social behaviour.
Thame/Wheatley VERA Christmas bags 2017
Once again Thame & Wheatley Neighbourhood Police Team have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community at Christmas time. This has been especially reflected with the amount of donations we have received to help us create Christmas hampers for those local citizens that are on our VERA (Vulnerable, Elderly, and Resident Association) list. In particular we would like to thank Oxfam Book Shop in Thame, BP Garage in Thame and Asda in Wheatley for helping us with donations. All in all, we managed to deliver 21 bags to those residents who may be alone this Christmas or have limited family to share the special time with.
Crime prevention advice
As the nights begin to draw in earlier throughout the winter months, we would like to take this opportunity to advise the public to make sure that their properties, (including sheds and outbuildings) and vehicles are securely locked. It is important that all valuable items are removed from vehicles are removed from sight of windows, this will help to deter opportunists.
We would also ask residents to be vigilant in keeping an eye out for unusual activity in your street including vehicles and people that may look out of place and report it on 101 as soon as possible or 999 if you suspect that a crime is taking place at that moment.

Recovery of stolen property
Thames Valley Police are appealing for individuals that have had tools stolen over the past year in the Thames Valley area. A large number of power tools have been recovered from a warrant in the Wheatley area and Thames Valley Police are seeking to reunite the tools with their rightful owners. If you believe that one of the recovered tools belongs to you or your company then please feel free to attend Abingdon Police station between the times listed below to view the recovered items. Please do your upmost to bring proof of purchase with you to the Police station. It is, however, understood that paperwork is not always kept so each case will be assessed on its own merits and the Police officers in attendance will be able to make a decision based on the information provided.
