After another short break on the hunt for Thame’s best pub burger, our foodie is back to review The Thatch's burger. After already completing The James Figg and Six Bells reviews, it meant that there was only one pub remaining.
To keep the review as fair as possible we will try to order the most basic burger on each menu.
The review will be based upon the best quality, taste, presentation, and also what is best value for money.
"Again I must apologise for how long this has taken for me to conduct this review, it certainly hasn't flowed along as smoothly as the takeaway and breakfast reviews did, but these things cannot be helped, and the final review has now been completed.
The Thatch only does one burger - The coarse ground steak burger. I'd actually popped into the Thatch one Saturday evening hoping to complete the review but unfortunately this was not to be, as I found out they only serve the burger between the hours of 12 and 6. So it meant popping into The Thatch on a weekday lunchtime.
The burger came in at £13.50, the most expensive yet. £0.50 more expensive than The Six Bells and £3.00 more expensive than The James Figg.
After ordering, my burger arrived around 15 minutes later. The burger bun was a lovely golden brown, and the burger itself was really excellent quality meat, tender, juicy, cooked to perfection and plenty of burger to go around. The bun, was soft yet crispy and complimented the burger well.
The burger was served with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, cheese, home made burger sauce and home made coleslaw. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and the cheese wasn't overpowering at all. The burger sauce and coleslaw were arguably the best part of the burger, home made and really flavoursome. On top of this i also got an extremely large portion of chunky chips, which were cooked to perfection and perfectly salted.
The only thing the burger was perhaps lacking, was presentation, as there was no burger stick to hold the burger together. That was the only minor negative point.
Overall this was a great finale to the Thame's best pub burger review. A juicy burger with lovely flavours. The price may put you off as it's £13.50 and more pricey than The James Figg and Six Bells but i'd certainly highly recommend giving it a go.
So that brings an end to my Thame's best pub burger review and I have picked my winner..........
.............The winner goes to the Six Bells.
For £13.00, the second priciest in Thame, you get so much for your money. The burger was packed full with tasty extras, and the burger itself was delicious. The James Figg and Thatch are worthy runners up and i'd also highly advise you try out their menus too!"
