10th December 2025
Thame residents can look forward to a dazzling dose of festive magic this year as the Oxford Christmas Light Bus makes a special appearance in the town on Saturday 13th December 2025. The illuminated open-top bus—covered in hundreds of twinkling lights—will stop in Thame as part of its county-wide Christmas tour organised by Oxford Bus Company, City Sightseeing Oxford, and Thames Travel, in partnership with Get Radio.
A Festive Spectacle on Wheels
The Christmas Light Bus has become a much-loved seasonal attraction across Oxfordshire, turning heads as it travels through towns and villages glowing in festive colours. This year’s bus will once again be accompanied by a soundtrack of Christmas classics from local broadcaster Get Radio, helping spread holiday cheer to families waiting at each stop.
At every designated stopping point, friendly Oxford Bus Company staff—dressed as elves—will hand out free treats to visitors, including options suitable for vegan and gluten-free diets. While the bus won’t be open for boarding, it will pause long enough for photos, festive fun, and a chance to enjoy the spectacle up close.
When the Bus Reaches Thame
The Christmas Light Bus will arrive in Thame at 19:05 and depart at 19:15 on 13th December as part of a route that includes Wallingford, Henley, Watlington, Chalgrove, Great Milton and more.

After Thame, the bus will continue on to Tiddington, Wheatley, and Garsington before returning to Oxford.
Why the Bus Tour Exists
The Oxford Bus Company says the event is about “bringing joy to the community” and offering a free, inclusive Christmas activity for families across the county. With support from Thames Travel, City Sightseeing Oxford and Get Radio, they have brought the event back for another year to spread festive spirit far and wide.
How It Works
Visitors simply need to turn up at their local stopping point at the time shown. The bus will pull up, the “elves” will hop out, and festive goodies will be shared with children and adults alike. The organisers note that the bus cannot give rides—it's a roadside event only.
Share the Magic
Residents are encouraged to capture and share their experience on social media using #OxfordXmasBus.
With its bright lights, cheerful music, and generous helping of Christmas spirit, the Oxford Christmas Light Bus promises to be a heart-warming highlight of the season for Thame families.
