At 14:42 on Saturday, 6 December, two fire engines from Thame Fire Station (27P1 and 27P2) were mobilised to a fire at Chinnor Rugby Football Club. Both appliances arrived within six minutes, with additional support sent from Slade Park Fire Station and Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.
Smoke was reported issuing from the rear of the building on arrival. Club staff had already evacuated the premises and informed firefighters that oxygen cylinders were located near the fire.
A breathing apparatus team entered the building to tackle the blaze and limit further damage. A specialist ram fan was later used to assist with smoke clearance.
According to the fire crews, the rapid arrival of both Thame appliances provided sufficient personnel to deploy breathing apparatus teams, set up hose lines, and maintain crew safety throughout the incident.
